Frequently Asked
Questions
1. How big is the
unit? The unit is slightly larger than a paperback book..
2. Where can I use
it? Almost anywhere. The only requirement is access to either
a 110v outlet or a 12v DC cigarette lighter connector. Of course we
don't recommend using the device anywhere you wouldn't typically use your
computer, so in the pool or sauna is not a recommended option.
3. How do I turn it
on? Just plug it in. A green power light should immediately turn on indicating the system is
powered up.
4. How do I operate the
unit? It's really as simple as turning it on and waiting a 20
seconds for the unit to boot up. That's it...really.
5. Will it work in
Kalamazoo or (insert place)? The unit works off of the cellular
phone system so if your cell phone works in that area, chances are, the
J-Spot will work there too.
6. Can I lock everyone else
from accessing the J-Spot? There is an option available that allows
up to 16 computers to be granted exclusive access to the unit based on
their MAC address. WEP encryption can also be enabled on the unit.
8. How fast is the
service? You can expect raw speeds of 200Kbps+ upstream and
downstream in areas with EVDO coverage. With compression, near DSL speeds can be attained.
In smaller markets and outlying areas, speeds of up to 114Kbps can be
attained.
9. How many people can use
the unit at once? Any number of users can access the unit at any
time. We recommend not more than 5 or 6 people surfing the web simultaneously.
10. Does the unit work in a
moving vehicle? Yes, but please don't surf and drive as it's
dangerous and illegal.
